Chief Executive Officer
Gary Herbek is a visionary, steadily guiding our hospital with for-profit and not-for-profit acute care hospital leadership experience within healthcare systems and stand alone organizations as his role of CEO. Under his direction and management, the patients receive higher quality, post acute physical medicine rehabilitation in the Washington metropolitan area. Having received his master's prepared degree in healthcare administration from MCV/VCU and as a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, Gary has served twice as a chief executive officer and three times as a chief operating officer prior to joining the HealthSouth family. He is a native Virginian, married to a former RN with three sons.
Kurt Graham, M.D.
As medical director of HealthSouth Fredericksburg, Dr. Graham is responsible for overseeing the hospital’s clinical staff and rehabilitative programs. As a board-certified physical medical and rehabilitation physician, Dr. Graham has many years of medical leadership experience working in a variety of healthcare settings. He received his doctor of medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his residency training with the University of Illinois Hospital and Affiliated Clinics in Chicago. He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Physicians for Social Responsibility.
Director of Plant Operations/Safety Officer
Charles brings 20 years experience in acute care hospital experience to Fredericksburg. He joined the HealthSouth Fredericksburg team in August 2014 after relocating from HealthSouth Mountainview Hospital in Morgantown WV. He has served as the safety committee chairperson for HealthSouth for the last four years. He comes to us with experience with emergency management and represents HealthSouth with local emergency preparedness groups. Charles is a native of California where he ran a successful landscape business for 15 years.
Robin Corey, PT, MHS
Director of Therapy Operations
Robin has been a practicing physical therapist since 1981 and has worked in an inpatient rehabilitation setting since 1982. She received her Bachelor of Science in biology from the Pennsylvania State University and went on to study physical therapy at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her master's degree in health science from the University of Indianapolis. Robin is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Kimberly Foster, PHR, SHRM-CP
Director of Human Resources
Kim joined HealthSouth Fredericksburg as the director of human resources in December, 2014. She has over 15 years of experience in human resources management. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Kim graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she earned her BS in business administration with a minor in finance. She is nationally certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) at both the national and state level. She has also earned her SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designation.
Chief Nursing Officer
Michelle brings more than 15 years of clinical and management experience to HealthSouth Fredericksburg, from acute care, skilled care, home health and government settings. Michelle joined HealthSouth in 2011, and has worked in a variety of roles including nurse manager, nurse liaison and infection control practitioner. Michelle attends Chamberlain College of Nursing and is currently pursuing her BSN/MSN. She is active in the community, and is a member of the Rappahannock Medical Reserve Corp.
Director of Quality
Beth Jackson brings more than 30 years of clinical and management experience to HealthSouth of Fredericksburg. She joined HealthSouth of Northern Virginia in 2014 as director of quality and risk management and served as interim chief nursing officer. Prior to her career at HealthSouth, Beth was the director of the division of trauma, designation and categorization for the State of West Virginia, where she had oversight of West Virginia hospital trauma designations and stroke categorizations. She has many years of experience in quality and performance improvement within West Virginia; Dallas, Texas; several midwest states and Virginia. Beth graduated from Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Denise Lee, RN, BS, CRRN
Director of Marketing
Denise Lee was named the director of marketing operations in January 2016, after working in the field as a rehab liaison for over two years. Denise has been a registered nurse for 28 years and has been a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse ® since 1992. She earned her bachelor’s degree in science from Liberty University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in health and wellness.
Nora joined the HealthSouth team as controller in July 2016, after working 10+ years in various accounting capacities in healthcare, banking and energy. She is a CPA, and has her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Science in Financial Management and Information Systems. She grew up in Colorado, then lived briefly in California and settled in Virginia with her military spouse in 2004.
Mike Nguyen, PharmD, MHA, BCPS
Director of Pharmacy
Mike is an accomplished pharmacy director with more than 5 years of progressive leadership responsibilities in acute and post-acute care hospitals. Mike obtained his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Midwestern University – Glendale and a master’s degree in health administration from The Ohio University. His areas of interest include antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation and pain management. Prior to his career with HealthSouth, Mike held positions as a pharmacy director at a long-term acute care facility and as an emergency department pharmacist at a regional hospital. With his board certification in pharmacotherapy and clinical experience, his goal is to provide the best outcome for his patients.
Karen Truslow, RN, MSN, ACM, CCM
Director of Care Management
Karen brings 18 years of case management experience to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Fredericksburg. Prior to joining HealthSouth, she served as a case manager/operations manager for the department of care management at Mary Washington Hospital. She began her career at Mary Washington Hospital as a home health nurse. Karen received a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in nursing administration both from George Mason University. She is an Accredited Case Manager and Board Certified Case Manager.
